Cosmos is a little darker in tone compared to some of my other pieces. The focus is on one individual flower, with the background out of focus. This was a challenging one in that there was a lot of detail however this detail was subtle and hard to convey. I also find that the charcoal itself works really great on bigger pieces, which this one certainly is!
Cosmos is a late flowering plant, grown by me in my wildflower meadow. It flowers later than its meadow friends, coming out to bring the light just when all around it appears dead. And its good for the insects.
Cosmos took 90 hours to complete.
