Droplets

42cm x 29.7cm

This was a commission piece for a very wonderful client. The clients brief was open, we were looking to show something natural however they did specify that they particularly liked water and leaves - and ‘Droplets’ was born.  As I was drawing this I adapted the piece from the original reference photograph that I took in order to try and show more detail within the main two droplets - to bring in the sunflower plant which is in view in the droplets reflection.  I also adapted a lot of the background to darken this to bring this focus onto the leaf and the droplets, and to add more depth.  This piece is full of texture and feeling, you can almost feel the leaf on your finger tips which is contrasted with the smoothness of the droplets as they fall.  It is also a little pause in time, something to make you stop and soak it all in.
